Nature Education
Discover the magic of nature through engaging activities and workshops designed for families.
Mission
I constantly marvel at children’s ability to see magic in the smallest things. A giant worm wriggling in the dirt. A pine cone. A sprouting chestnut. The way light reflects off of surfaces. Their joy is contagious in a way that I know I, as an adult, wish was as easy to come by.
What comes naturally to children is something that, as adults, we have to choose — and that choice gets harder the faster life moves.
In Nature with Nina exists to slow things down. To create the conditions where a child can genuinely astonish themselves, and where a caregiver can witness it happening. Not through performance or a packed schedule of activities, but through curiosity, guided exploration, and the deep, quiet intelligence of the natural world. When children learn to pay attention to nature, something else happens quietly alongside it: they start to notice the people around them too. Connection to the living world and connection to each other tend to grow at the same pace.
I don’t give children the answers. I offer them better questions — and then I get out of the way.
That’s not a teaching technique. It’s a belief: that children already carry within them everything they need. Nature has a way of reminding them of that. And us, too.

About Nina

I grew up in Brooklyn, New York — which is not, by most definitions, a nature-filled upbringing. And yet something in me always knew that the world was vaster and more alive than the concrete city that surrounded me.
I’ve spent the last fifteen years in classrooms, on nature trails, in museums, and in the in-between spaces where real learning tends to happen. I hold an M.S. in Elementary Education and an MEd in Value-Creating Education for Global Citizenship — a philosophy that changed not just how I teach, but how I understand and encourage learning. It taught me that every child already possesses unlimited potential. My role is never to fill them up. It’s to help them find what’s already there.
I discovered just how powerful the natural world could be as a partner in that process during a season of environmental conservation work in Bijagua, Costa Rica. I woke every morning to hummingbirds, howler monkeys, and puma footprints pressed into the wet mud outside my door. Something clicked into place. I knew then that I’d spend my life bringing children and families into that kind of aliveness — where wonder isn’t something you manufacture, it’s something you stumble into, if you slow down enough to look.
So, I began In Nature with Nina. Not as a business idea, but as a dream: to awaken a love of nature in children and the families who love them. It is, without question, the greatest privilege of my teaching life.
I’m based in Madrid, and I work in English and Spanish.
